ABRUPT DEMISE, MACERATION and four other new bands

We are Czech Death Fest, so the second batch of bands revolves around our key genre. It features a brutal offering from the Netherlands, a tribute to the Nordic style from Denmark, and there’s no shortage of both modern and old-school sounds.

In our last update, we announced one of the headliners, KATAKLYSM. We’re now expanding the festival’s death metal backbone, ensuring every branch of this rich genre is covered.

ABRUPT DEMISE are coming from the Netherlands; their brutal set is packed with crushing riffs and an uncompromising grindy tempo that will hammer you into the ground with its sheer energy. The Danes MACERATION, on the other hand, play a melodic style and are representatives of the raw Nordic sound. We’d like to remind you that the iconic Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity and many others) contributed to their debut album. Both bands consist of experienced musicians, and both performances were postponed by the storm last year, so this year’s shows are spare shows.
And now for Czech scene. INCEPTION OF FALL will be bringing technical death metal with an emphasis on atmosphere and dynamic shifts, without copying trends. This is, therefore, the sort of music you’ll find only very rarely. Their line-up features Ondra, guitarist of GODLESS TRUTH, and Adam, the vocalist from SWEPT INTO DECAY, who’ll be performing twice at the festival as his second band is also coming along. Their hard-hitting and uncompromising blackened downtempo deathcore sound, forged from genuine steel-city
Ostrava, has built a reputation on the modern core scene and earned the band a deal with the American label Seek & Strike, who have now released their EP ‘Body//Gold’.

The second pair, on the other hand, are united by tradition and perhaps also an ‘old school’ ethos. POPPY SEED GRINDER, who’ll be celebrating their 30th anniversary next year, will be bringing an explosive combination of brutal death metal and uncompromising hardcore, so if you’re a fan of DYING FETUS and HATEBREED, you know exactly where you need to be when they’re on stage. The latest acts to be announced are SCABBARD, pioneers of the Czech thrash/death scene. In the 1990s, they were ‘in the same league’ as KRABATHOR, touring with VADER and DESTRUCTION, but were then halted by the tragic death of their guitarist. They returned to the scene in 2017, followed by the return of original vocalist Petr Vavřík, and at MGCDF 2027 they’ll be presenting their upcoming new release, their sixth album *Čekárna na smrt*.
